About Us

My passion for houses was kindled by my mother’s keen interest in collecting antiques. We spent many a weekend rummaging around out-of-the-way junk shops, on our trips to look at stately, and not so stately homes, all over England.

I remember being most interested in the houses, however magnificent, which continued to be family homes rather than silent museums.During my teens I lived part-time in Paris, absorbing the rich architecture of Europe. I soon became fascinated with the Modern movement of Le Corbusier, Van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright and others.

My first assignment took the form of assisting my mother and architect George Mathers, to design and build a single-story, multi-level, mid-century, modern house on a gently sloping Hertfordshire field. Ahead of it’s time for Britain, it featured floor-to-ceiling sliding windows, exposed aggregate concrete, sheet copper, and hand-made buff bricks.

A few years after an accredited architectural education, courtesy of The Regent Street Polytechnic School of Architecture & The Royal College of Art, and while working for a large firm of architects, I became disillusioned with the direction of British architecture. My design career took a back seat when my musical training, and the sixties scene inspired the next fifteen years in the music industry. I produced records and managed notable talents of the era; Procol Harum, Denny Lane, and David Bowie.

In 1978, I set up an Architecture and Interior Design firm in London’s trendy Notting Hill Gate Village. My team specialized in luxury apartment developments, high-end remodels and interiors for international clients, ranging from the Mid-East to the Mid-West. It was my long-standing interest in designing custom family homes, coupled with my many visits to America, that merged when I designed a California home in the Hollywood hills for a renowned English composer.

Since 1997 I have specialized in designing and supervising the remodeling and construction of private homes in California; from 700 sq. ft. room additions to 7000 sq. ft. new construction, I will guide you through the difficult process from start to finish.
